Business Development & Market Research Intern
About The HR Gap
The HR Gap is a HR consultancy dedicated to empowering small and medium-sized businesses. We specialize in bridging the gap between a business's current state and its full potential by providing expert HR advisory, assessments, employee handbook creation, and strategic recruitment services. We don't just consult; we partner with businesses to build their first HR teams or provide a-la-carte solutions that minimize compliance risks and maximize ROI.
Role Overview
We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Marketing Intern to join our team. This role is foundational to our growth strategy, focusing on identifying potential clients and understanding the competitive landscape. You will gain hands-on experience in B2B lead generation, CRM management, professional outreach, and competitive market analysis within the Human Resources industry.
Key Responsibilities
Prospecting: Utilize Apollo.io to identify and qualify potential B2B leads that fit our target demographic (small to mid-sized businesses looking for HR support).
Data Management: Systematically collect and organize lead information (company size, key decision-makers, contact details, and specific HR needs) into a centralized company spreadsheet.
Competitive Research: Research and track local HR consulting competitors in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. You will analyze their service offerings, pricing models (where available), and marketing tactics to help The HR Gap maintain a competitive edge.
Outreach: Conduct initial cold outreach via professional email campaigns and discovery phone calls to introduce The HR Gap’s services and schedule consultations.
Market Research: Stay informed on industry trends to tailor outreach messaging, ensuring it resonates with the specific pain points of business owners and HR leaders.
Reporting: Track weekly progress on lead acquisition and competitive findings to help optimize the business development process.
Qualifications

Familiarity with LinkedIn and lead generation tools (Apollo.io experience is a major plus).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information about competitors into actionable insights.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you should feel comfortable speaking with business leaders over the phone.
High level of organization and proficiency with Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.
A self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently in a remote or hybrid environment.
What You’ll Gain
